An "After" Photo with Annie Sloan
Friday, August 12, 2011 at 07:00AM I excell at quite a few things. Quoting Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. Singing loudly and off-key. Boggle. But I'm terrible at quite a few things too. Most recently: taking a "before" picture prior to starting a project. It's so fulfilling to see how much I've changed something (whether it be a slipcover, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, etc.) and yet I consistently forget.
This metal bucket was very pretty but had some wear and tear. It was very provencal - mustard yellow with red and green. I decided to change its entire look by painting it Paris Grey. I added some light, free-hand detailing so that it wasn't boring. I then created a glaze and washed that over and finalized the redo by wrapping the handle in twine. See...all that wordiness could have been avoided if I'd simply snapped that photo...
