Color 2011 - Lavender

Before Total Bliss I worked at RE/MAX Realty Consultants here in Greensboro. No, I wasn't an agent, but I worked for two. My boss graduated with a degree in Interior Design from ECU and I quickly learned that her favorite color is purple - especially in her home. It's interesting; not many people choose purple. She won me over though, as I realized that purple is a colorful neutral (oxymoron, I know.) Purple goes with almost anything. This last season in fashion has even proved it can work with red. It can be deep, lush and regal or sweet, crisp and feminine. The possibilities are endless!

The lavender in the sectional seen above picks up the almost imperceptible blush of the flowers in the wallpaper and adds femininity to the modern, masculine lines of the sofa. It also subtly breaks up the white walls, floor and accents. The unique choice of purple adds to the other unique touches in the room (a wall of mirrors, the cow hide rug, the silver pillows, etc.) Below, the lavender matelasse brings a touch of warmth to this bedroom. It pairs nicely with the relaxed upholstery and fresh flowers, reminding occupants of the soothing plant that shares its name with today's color.
The lavender throw and pillow below act as pops of color while remaining neutral and calming for this bedroom. It also bridges well with the silver tone of the sofa, keeping it from looking cold.
The gorgeous lavender wallpaper and settee scream classy elegance. Note how clean everything looks - thank the light color of lavender for that.
Mila Kunis at the 2011 Academy Awards. She's not my favorite actress but even I must admit this dress is awesome.
