Personal Note
Monday, March 14, 2011 at 07:00AM If you know me at all, you know I love books. And movies. Therefore movies based on books make me weak at the knees. So just a heads up, Focus Features released Jane Eyre last Friday in select theaters. And did I mention that Judi Dench is in it? So...who wants to carpool?

In the event that you're not interested in Jane Eyre, but would love to hear me talk a million miles per minute, here are my 5 Favorite Dramas Based on Literature.
Persuasion - If you follow any of these suggestions, make it this one. Austen's final novel deals with the themes of regret and second chances. And Capt. Wentworth.
Sherlock - Classic mystery set in modern London. And please, no Robert Downey Jr.
Pride and Prejudice - The one that started the obsession.
North & South - No, no, no. Not the Patrick Swayze biopic. This is a 4 part piece of BBC goodness, filled with socio-economic tensions and Richard Armitage.
Downton Abby - Technically this isn't based on literature. But this is my list and I'm permitting a bending of the rules. This series follows an upstairs/downstairs plot with Maggie Smith leading the cast. And PBS just gave the greenlight for season 2.
Honorable mentions include: Bleak House, Little Dorrit, Cranford, Lark Rise to Candleford and any Poirot mystery.
