To Do List - 09
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 07:08AM It feels good to have a brand new year and a brand new list and I am not going to put the same old things on mine ! After all, if I have had something on "the list" for several years, it fits into another category now.....maybe "Ongoing challenges". I just don't want to clutter my New List with old reminders of things I'm still working on. No "carry-overs" please.
I'm going to approach it differently this year and really concentrate on the things I CAN accomplish and CAN control.
So here it is, my possibly one and only resolution - Slow the clock !!
I don't mean stop the clock or turn back the clock, just slow it down. Not for the entire planet or the human race....just my clock. I'll explain...........
I found at Christmastime that I had the recurring and slightly spooky feeling "....didn't I just do this". "Didn't I just go to the church musical, the Christmas tree lot, the mammography clinic, the attic for the decorations ?" It was really eerie and I sorta felt like Rip Van Winkle. I don't like it that my year was a blur. I found I could mark the events of the year by such things as ....Oh, yes, that was right before the market went down... or that month sales were really great....or that was right after the election...
Those are not the life markers I want to remember! So, this year, I'm resolving to evaluate daily or weekly and concentrate on more important things, more spiritual things, more fun things, less worry (Oh oops, that one sneaked in from the old lists!), and maybe when 2010 arrives I won't see a big blur closing in behind me!
I'll let you know how it works. I don't have a very good track record with resolution-keeping, but - it is a New Year!
