Things I love..........
Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 11:17AM I can't write about the things I enjoy and the things I'm passionate about without including this one....Greensboro's Weir-Jordan House. It is located at 223 N. Edgeworth Street and is owned by the Greensboro Woman's Club, another thing I enjoy and feel passionate about! This grand old lady was built in 1847 and is on the National Historic Register. I love the house, I love her character, I love the good times I have had there and the people I have met there. What a treasure.....sitting right downtown a block from the new stadium, accessible to the public, continuing to provide beauty and history to those who go by. There are almost daily activities there, weddings, club meetings, parties.....delicious kitchen aromas beckon you in and often entice a "Wow, I didn't know this was here..." reaction. She stood there through the civil war! She was built as Blandwood's next-door neighbor!
I have a fool-proof way of determining which things and people in my life I am most passionate about. As many of you know, I spent many years moving around in corporate America. Boy, you find out quickly what means the most to you when you are 3000 miles from home. Some things I had done provided me with happy memories, some things I had done I was happy to forget, but there were some things that I longed for deeply; experiences I wanted to relive. These are the things I knew I was passionate about and I wanted them in my life again. Greensboro was the place I knew I wanted to be, my family was always number one, and the good times and good friends I had enjoyed through the Woman's Club were also in that picture. Luckily I was eventually able to return and I appreciate those people and places more than ever! I don't take for granted what a wonderful city we have and all that's available to us here.
Thanks for reading these ramblings.....I just needed to say thanks to the places and people I love making memories with! http://www.greensborowomansclub.com
